…Upcoming, Ongoing, or Recent!

I’m not currently in the midst of any facilitation projects but here’s the scoop on a few recent ones I haven’t yet put up photos of:

In April, Sarah Lowry and I worked with Ms. Weinraub’s Drama Classes at West Philly High School. We led a 9-session workshop in making Shoebox Crankie Theaters, based loosely on the theme: “Untold Stories of West Philadelphia.” Most of the students performed their work at the 40th St. AIR Gallery as part of the Closing Party for my “Retrospectacular” Art Exhibit. It was inspiring to see all the different kinds of stories and performance forms (beat-boxing, shadow puppetry, singing, rapping, comic illustrations) that can be showcased inside a shoe box!

Last fall I collaborated with Pig Iron Theater Company to facilitate a theater and cardboard construction workshop for teen-agers from Raices Culturales. They performed for family and friends in November at The Pig Iron School.

I worked with the West Philly Co-op School to create puppets for the Peoplehood Parade last October. These 2 and 3 year olds were the youngest puppeteers I’d ever worked with, and woah–they know how to paint!

Last spring, I was an Artist in Residence at Oasis Arts and Education Center. I worked with about a dozen artists at this center for adults living with disabilities to create an original puppet show, with live keyboard and vocal soundtrack, which we performed for the public at Underground Arts the the Wolf Building.
